RESOLUTION NO. 95-70 AMENDING THE CLASSIFICATION PLAN
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Adopt Resolution No. 95-70 amending the Classification Plan of the City of Tustin to include
the non-management position of Sports Field Maintenance Aide and approve the placement of
this position on the part time salary schedule equivalent to that of the Recreation Leader
position:

Step B 6.8040
Step C 7.1442
FISCAL IMPACT:
The funding of this position has been proposed in the 1995-96 budget and should not exceed
$7,600.00 which includes salary and other costs for part time employees.
DISCUSSION:
This position was originally funded as a contract position but is being converted to a part time
regular position to comply with Internal Revenue Service and Fair Labor Standards Act
Guidelines.

SPORTS FIELD MAINTENANCE AIDE
THE POSITION:
Under the direct supervision of the Sports Field Specialist,
assists with coordination of municipal sports programs with an
emphasis on responsibility for field maintenance.
EXAMPLE oF DUTIES:
Assists the Sports Field Specialist with coordinating, scheduling
and organizing the municipal sports program for the Community
Services Department; drags and waters the playing fields, maintains
the playing fields and surrounding areas in safe conditions for
their intended use; accept responsibility of the Sports Field
Specialist on occasion and perform other related duties as
required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Experience: Any combination of experience and education
which would-demonstrate possession of the required knowledge and
skills. Typically, this would consist of a minimum of one year of
experience working in a sports program involving leagues and field
maintenance and graduation from high school or equivalent.
Knowledqe of: Operation of municipal sports programs, accepted
field maintenance practices and procedures; safety practices
involved in sports programs and field maintenance; rules and
regulations governing sports and programs and first aide
procedures.
Skill in: Conducting municipal sports program in a safe and
efficient manner; operating sports facilities to maximize their
effective use; scheduling techniques used in sports programs; and
maintaining sports fields and use of maintenance equipment to
ensure a safe and effective sports program.
Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift 40 to 50 lbs; lift and
pull water hose to watering points; pull, turn or twist to rake
leaves or debris; push chalker to line field; turn steering wheel
to direct light vehicle used in field maintenance; lift and carry .
tools and equipment to and from storage points or vehicles; read
and understand diagrams and schedules; withstand exposure to
direct sunlight, rain, humidity, chemicals and dust while working
outside for extended periods of time; and sufficient vision,
hearing, and agility to be able to move quickly to avoid hazards
inherent on sports fields.

RESOLUTION NO'. 95-70
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF TUSTIN, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING THE
CLASSIFICATION PLAN
WHEREAS, the City adopted a Classification Plan in 1984,
by adopting Resolution No. 84-63; and
WHEREAS, it is desireable and appropriate to revise and
update the Classification Plan when appropriate;
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Tustin,
California, does hereby resolve that the Classification Plan
of the City of Tustin, dated August 20, 1984, is hereby
amended to include the classification of Sports Field
Maintenance Aide, as outlined in the attached job description.
Passed and adopted at a regular meeting of the Tustin
City Council held on the 5th day of September, 1995.
