HUSTON, CITY MANAGER FROM: COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT SUBJSCT: PROMOTIONAL VIDEO RECOMMENDATION It is recommended that the City Council instruct staff to prepare and issue a request for proposal for preparation of a video to promote the community. FISCAL IMPACT No fiscal impact at this time. Once an RFP is issued and responses received, staff will return with a recommended budget appropriation. BACKGROUND The Mayor has requested that staff agendize for City Council discussion and concurrence a request for the City to prepare a promotional video about the City of Tustin that can be used for the following purposes: to market the City and its services to potential new businesses that the City would like to attract to the City to inform existing businesses and residents about the benefits of Tustin and the services the City provides to market commUnity services available to the community (churches, schools, youth activities, non-profit organizations, etc.) to provide basic information concerning the City of Tustin to community groups and the general public Staff would recommend that in proceeding on such a project that a request for proposal be first prepared. As part of the response to the proposal, a proposer would detail the scope of work and schedule for development and approval of the overall design and City Council Report Promotional Video September 5, 1995 Page 2 format for such a video. This video .would serve as a general purpose promotion of the community. At a later date the City Council might want to consider videos and other marketing strategies that focus on specific topics such as the base reuse plan. While a budget appropriation would not be necessary until award of a future consultant services agreement, the average cost for a professional marketing video can range from $15,000 to $25,000.
