?O: WILLIAM A. HUSTON, CITY MANAGER
FMOM: COMMUNITY SERVICES DEPARTMENT
SUBJECT: NEW MEMBER FOR THE TUSTIN COMMUNITY FOUNDATION BOARD OF
DIRECTORS
RECOMMENDATION:
Appoint Alan Hirasuna of L'Garde, Inc., Tustin to the Board of
Directors of the Tustin Community Foundation. The nomination was
supported by the Board of Directors at the May 23, 1995 Regular
Meeting of the Tustin Community Foundation Board of Directors.
BACKGROUND:
The Tustin Community Foundation was established in 1994 by the City
Council. As the Foundation Board of Directors prepared for the
first'year of operation it became apparent that it was necessary to
expand the size of the Board to provide more volunteer leadership
to accomplish everything the Board wanted and needed to do. The
City Council approved a resolution to expand the Board membership
to '"up to fifteen members" at the January 3, 1995 Meeting.
Boardmember Jim Farley resigned effective March 1995. currently
there are seven members serving on the Board.
Alan Hirasuna, of L'Garde, Inc., has been active in the business
community through the Tustin Area Chamber. of Commerce. Mr.
Hirasuna and his firm were major donors to the Tustin Area Senior
Center Fund in 1987. Again his firm, L'Garde, Inc. has pledged
financial support to the Tustin Community Foundation and he
personally has volunteered his time to assist with Foundation
activities.
Mr. Hirasuna graciously accepted the Board's invitation to become
involved at the May 23, 1995 Regular Meeting. As an active member
of the local business community he will bring valuable assistance
the Foundation's fundraising efforts. A letter of interest and
qualifications from Mr. Hirasuna is attached.

Dear Ms. Riggins:
I have been invited by your Board of Directors to be a candidate for membership on
that board. Thank you for your invitation and I would be honored to serve on the Tustin
Community Foundation board.
I am a founder of L'Garde, Inc, which is located in South Tustin near the helicopter
base. When we moved from Newport Beach to Tustin in 1986, we resolved to become a
good corporate citizen and supporter of Tustin.
L'Garde donated to the Tustin Senior Center and I served on the 'fund raising
committee. L'Garde also recently donated to the Tustin Community Foundation. L'Garde is
a member of the Tustin Chamber and I served as an Ambassador.
If I am privileged to be approved to be a Director of the Tustin Community
Foundation, I plan to serve Tustin diligently·
