BACKGROUND' · Following is a list of Commission/Committee term expirations that will occur on July 19, 1995. Those members whose terms will expire continue to serve until the City Council finalizes the appointment or. reappointment process. Planninq Commission: Alden Baker* and Kathy Weil * Denotes end of three term limit Parks and Recreation Commission: Don Biery, Terri Neal, Kenneth Royal and Margarete Thompson Audit Committee: George Jeffries and Daniel O'Connell In addition to the above term expirations, there are currently two (2) vacancies on the Tustin Water Corporation Board due to resignations. CONCLUSION: The City Council may desire to have staff contact members whose terms will expire to determine if they are interested in reappointment and/or direct staff to begin the recruitment process by issuing a press release (Attachment A) requesting candidates submit applications (Attachment B) for consideration by the City Council. Valeri~ ~rabill- -- Chief Deputy City Clerk CITY OF TUSTIN S EKS APPLICANTS TO SERVE ON PLANNING COMMISSION PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION AUDIT COMMITTEE AND WATER CORPORATION BOARD ATTACHMENT A The City of Tustin is currently seeking applicants who are interested in serving on the following Commissions and Committees: PLANNING COMMISSION: Two positions on the Planning Commission will become available in July due to term expirations. Upon review of applicants, the City Council may extend the terms of an existing Commissioner or appoint new Commissioners. The Planning Commission meets at 7:00 p.m. on the second and fourth Monday of each month to evaluate development proposals and submit recommendations to the City Council regarding land use matters in the City. Terms are for two years (3 term limit), compensation is $50.00 per regular meeting, and applicants are required to be a registered voter in the City. PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION: Four positions on the Parks and Recreation Commission will .become available in July due to term expirations. Upon review of applicants, the City Council may extend the terms of existing Commissioners or appoint new Commissioners. The Parks and Recreation Commission meets bimonthly at 7:00 p.m. on the third Thursday to serve as an advisory body to the City Council and Community Services staff on all matters relating to parks, park design/development, recreation, and community services. Terms are for two years (3 term limit), compensation is $25.00 per regular/special meeting, and applicants are required to be a resident of the City. AUDIT COMMITTEE: Two positions on the Audit-Committee will become available in July due to term expirations. Upon review of applicants, the City Council may extend the terms of existing Committee members or appoint new members. The Audit Committee meets bimonthly to provide oversight on the preparation of the annual financial audit and make recommendations to the City Council on the financial operations. Terms are for four years and compensation is $50.00 per regular and special meetings. Applicants are required to meet one of the following requirements: registered voter of the City or registered voter of area served by the Tustin Water Department. TUSTIN WATER CORPORATION BOARD: There are currently two vacancies on the Board of Directors of the City of Tustin Water Corporation due to resignations. This is a non-profit corporation that meets annually to review the lease between the City of Tustin and the Tustin Water Corporation. Committee members serve until resignation.
