BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION
The following information relates to the status of the Caltrans I-

Overall completion of the I-5/SR-55 interchange is
delayed due to the recent rains and tentatively scheduled
for late summer, 1995.
The northbound SR-55' to northbound I-5 connector was
originally opened at ground level. A newly constructed
elevated connector (flyover) was completed and opened to
traffic on February 2, 1995 to replace the old ground
level connector.
The southbound SR-55 to southbound I-5 connector is
currently open at ground level. This connector will also
be an elevated (flyover) upon completion of the project
and is tentatively scheduled to open on April 29, 1995.
The following connectors are currently open at ground
level and will stay open with minor overnight and/or
weekend closures on an as-need basis:
Southbound I-5 to southbound SR-55
Northbound I-5 to northbound SR-55
These connectors are tentatively scheduled for final
completion in June 1995.
The northbound SR-55 to southbound I-5 connector is
currently open at ground level and will stay open with
minor overnight and/or weekend closures on an as-need
basis. Final completion is tentatively scheduled for
April 29', 1995.
The northbound I-5 to southbound SR-55 connector is the
only one currently closed and will stay closed until
final completion of the project in late summer, 1995.
The SR-55 northbound off-ramp to Irvine Boulevard/4th
Street is tentatively scheduled to be closed for a period
of one month in May 1995.
Main Street between Williams and Stoneglass is currently
partially open and is scheduled for final completion in
May/June 1995.
Nisson Road between Pasadena and "B" Street was partially
opened to through traffic on August 20, 1992. This
partial opening consists of a 24 foot wide street with
curb and gutter on the south side, and concrete barrier,
curb and gutter and/or white edge stripe on the north
side. The ultimate street construction is tentatively
scheduled for completion in April/May 1995.
The I-5 southbound off-ramp to Newport Avenue is
currently open and is scheduled to close on March 27,
1995 for a period of 34 days.
The Newport Avenue widening under I-5 is tentatively
scheduled for completion in April/May 1995.
The above information and schedule was furnished through
discussions with the Caltrans Resident Engineer and is subject to
change based upon weather conditions and contractor's scheduling.
