(COUNTY OF ORANGE PROJECT)
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council, at their meeting of February
21, 1995, approve in concept the Peters Canyon Channel (FO6) Embankment
Restoration Project from Moffett Drive to SCRRA/OCTA Railway as
requested by the County of Orange.
FISCAL IMPACT
None. The project is fully administered by the County with 100%
reimbursed by the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
BACKGROUND
This is an Orange county Flood Control District Project. The purpose of
the project is to repair and protect segments of the existing
trapezoidal earthen channel embankment and levee maintenance road along
the Peters Canyon Channel (Facility No. F06) which suffered extensive
damage during the January/February 1993 winter storms.
This project lies entirely within the City of Tustin between Moffett
Drive and the SCRRA/OCTA Railway and under the public contracts code,
City approval is required prior to the County of Orange awarding the
construction contract on March 22, 1995.
The Public Works Department/Engineering Division has reviewed the plans
and specifications for this project and recommends City Council
approval.

Embankment Restoration, Moffett Drive to AT&SF Railroad
Dear Mr. Serlet:
Orange County Flood Control District (OCFCD) is completing plans and
specifications for embankment restoration of Peters Canyon Channel. The
purpose of the project is to repair and protect segments of the existing
trapezoidal earthen channel embankment and levee maintenance road which
suffered extensive damage during the January/February 1993 winter storms.
Restoration will be accomplished by excavating the damaged embankments,
restoring the side slopes with existing material and placing riprap revetment.
OCFCD has targeted January 17, 1995 to begin advertisement of the project.
Bid opening date is scheduled for February 22, 1995.
The project lies entirely within the City of Tustin limits and under the
Public Contracts Code, City's ........ approval is requ,ired prior to awarding a
pon~~gn co~tra~t. Approval from th~ City of Tustin's City Council is
requested. Per your discussion with Design staff, please submit the project
to City Council during the project advertisement period.
The project has received approval by Federal Emergency Management Agency
(FEMA) for a 100% reimbursement.
Please find attached for your information a final set of conssruction plans
and specifications, a location map, the Engineer's Estimate and the Board
letter (Agenda Item Transmittal). A set of signed plans and specifications
and board resolution will be sent to you when they become available.
