HUSTON, CITY MANAGER OFFICE OF THE CITY CLERK RESOLUTION REQUESTING ORANGE COUNTY BOARD'OF SUPERVISORS HOLD EVENING MEETINGS AND PROVIDE PUBLIC INPUT RECOMMENDATION: Adopt Resolution No. 95-25 requesting that the Orange County Board of Supervisors conduct evening meetings and provide an opportunity for the public to address the Board. BACKGROUND: At their meeting held on February 6, 1995, the City Council concurred, at the request of Mr. A1 Shifberg-Mencher, to agendize adoption of a resolution requesting the Orange County Board of Supervisors conduct their meetings during evening hours and provide Public Input sections on their agenda so residents may address the Board of Supervisors. Valerie Crabill Chief Deputy City Clerk 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 15 16 17 18 19 2O 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 RESOLUTION NO. 95-25 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUSTIN, CALIFORNIA, REQUESTING THAT THE ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS CONDUCT EVENING MEETINGS AND PROVIDE TWO PUBLIC INPUT OPPORTUNITIES DURING THE MEETINGS WHEREAS, the Orange County Board of Supervisors conduct meetings during afternoon hours; and WHEREAS, the majority of Orange County residents are unable to attend afternoon meetings because of employment commitments; and WHEREAS, elected officials serve as representatives of their constituents; and WHEREAS, the public should be afforded the opportunity to attend evening meetings and address the Board of Supervisors with concerns they may have; and WHEREAS, the Orange County Board of Supervisors should provide public input at the beginning and end of each meeting, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Tustin, California, urges the Oranqe County Board of Supervisors to immediately conduct evening m~etings and provide two opportunities for the public to address the Board PASSED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Tustin City Council held on the 21st day of February, 1995.
