HomeMy WebLinkAbout10 PROJECT 600122 12-05-94NO. 10 12-5-94 DATE: TO: FROM: SUBJECT: DECEMBER 5, 1994 Inter-Com WILLIAM HUSTON, CITY MANAGER PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT/WATER DIVISION AWARD OF CONTRACT FOR WATER MAIN REPLACEMENT PROJECTS - PROJECT NO. 600122 RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that the Tustin City Council, at their regular meeting of December 5, 1994, award the contract for the subject project to Steve Casada Construction Co. of Anaheim, California, in the amount of $261,319.00 FISCAL IMPACT: $261,319.00 from Certificate of Participation (Bond) proceeds. There is $431,300 budgeted for completion of this project in the FY 1994/95 Tustin Water Service Capital Improvement Program. BACKGROUND: Bids were opened on November 22, 1994, for subject project and 16 bids were received as follows: 1. Steve Casada Construction Co. $261,319.00 2. RLT Construction, Inc. $277,995.00 3. B.R. Day Construction, Inc. $283,166.00 4. G.R. McKervey, Inc. $284,112.00 5. E.W. Harmon, Inc. $286,880.00 6. Atlas-Allied, Inc. $288,426.00 7. UrbanTec Engineers, Inc. $293,827.00 8. Petar Anukovich Construction Co., Inc. $296,955.00 9. Jan Earnest Ente/'pfises, Inc. $297,754.00 10. Riverside Pipeline, Inc., dba Horizontal Boring $298,000.00 11. S.J. Burkhardt, Inc. $298,488.00 12. Jana Contracting Corporation $314,997.00 13. John T. Malloy, Inc. $319,871.00 14. Schlumberger Industries, Inc. $336,014.00 15. Baker Company Constructors $417,183.00 16. Kennedy Pipeline Company $547,005.00 The low bid by Steve Casada Construction Co. is 23.1% under the engineer's estimate of $340,000.00. The Contractor's references have been verified and past job performance has been satisfactory. AWARD OF CONTRACT FOR WATER MAIN REPLACEMENT PROJECTS - PROJECT NO. 600122 December 5, 1994 Page 2 .DISCUSSION: This project consists of replacing deteriorated and undersized steel water mains in Whimey Drive, Lassen Drive, Lassen Way, Shasta Way, Blue Ridge Drive, and Oak Ridge Drive.
