ORDER Mayor Pro Tem Saltarelli called the meeting to
order at 7:31 p.m.

CANVASS OF SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION -
SEATING OF NEW COUNCILMAN
1. CERTIFICATION OF CANVASS
Mrs.-Poe stated that Certificate of Canvass (at-
tached) was presented to the Council, with copies
of Resolution No. 72-84; and that Section 5 of ~
that Resolution declares that Thomas L. Woodruff
was elected as Member of the City Council for a
term of office ending in April, 1974.
2. RESOLUTION NO. 72-84
A Resolution of the City Council of the City
of Tustin, California, RECITING THE FACT OF
THE SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD IN SAID
CITY OF TUSTIN ON THE 12TH DAY OF DECEMBER,
1972, DECLARING THE RESULT THEREOF AND SUCH
OTHER MATTERS AS ARE PROVIDED BY LAW.
Upon request by the Mayor Pro Tem, the secretary
read Resolution No. 72-84 by title.
Moved by Welshr seconded by Langley that further
reading be waived and that Resolution No. 72-84
be passed and adopted. Carried. Ayes: Saltarelli,
Langley, Welsh. Noes: none. Absent: Miller.
3. OATH OF OFFICE AND CERTIFICATION OF ELECTION
The City Clerk administered the Oath of Office and
issued a Certificate of Election to Thomas L. Wood-
ruff.
COMMENDATION OF OFFICERS
Moved by Welsh, seconded by Langley that the'staff
be directed to prepare an appropriate commendat"~
from the Council and citizens of the City of Tustfn
honoring Officer Waldron Karp for heroic action on
the morning of December 6, 1972, to be delivered
to him, with the Council's best wishes for his
recovery. ~.arried unanimously. Mayor Miller absent.

ADJOURNMENT

Karp be awu~ded a Medal of Valor award. Carrie
unanimously. Mayor Miller absent.
The City Council directed that the staff also pre-
pare a proclamation of appreciation for presenta-
tion to Deputy Timothy Stewart of the Orange County
Sheriff's Department.
Moved by Woodruff, seconded by Langley that the

meeting be adjourned to a Regular Adjourned Meet-
ing to be held the following evening, Wednesday,
December 20, 1972, at 7:30 p.m. in the Civic
Center Communit Buildin , at the corner of
T it Street and E Camino Real. Carried unani-
mously. Mayor Miller absent. (7:40 p.m.
