HUSTON, CITY MANAGER PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT/ENGINEERING DIVISION F R 0 'A: AWARD OF CONTRACT FOR THE MODIFICATION OF TRAFFIC SIGNALS AND SUBJECT: INTERCONNECT AT VARIOUS LOCATIONS (PROJECT NO. 800043, FILE NO. T91-3) RECOMMENDATION That the Tustin City Council at their meeting of June 17, 1991 award the contract for the subject project to the low bidder, Intersection Maintenance Service of Anaheim, in the amount of $145,333.00. BACKGROUND On April 15, 1991, the Tustin City Council approved the plans and specifications for the subject project and authorized the advertisement of bids for said work. Six sealed bids were received and opened at 10:30 a.m. on June 6, 1991 and are summarized as follows: 1. Intersection Maintenance Service $145,333.00 2. Pacific Traffic Systems 147,173.36 3. Signal Maintenance, Inc. 150,644.00 4. Steiny and Company 165,931.50 5. Baxter -Griffin Company 168,729.00 6. Moore Electrical Company 195,287.40 This project will provide for the modification of traffic signals and interconnect, including but not limited to, installing controller equipment, detector loops, conduits, cable, and pullboxes, performing all operations, furnishing all materials, equipment, traffic control, and all necessary appurtenant work at the'following locations: First Street @ E1 Camino Real Red Hill Avenue @ Service Road First Street @ Prospect Avenue Red Hill Avenue @ Walnut Avenue First Street @ Centennial Way Red Hill Avenue @ San Juan Street McFadden Avenue @ Tustin Village Way Red Hill Avenue @ Nisson Road Newport Avenue @ McFadden Avenue Red Hill Avenue @ El Camino Real Newport Avenue @ Walnut Avenue Walnut Avenue @ Oxford Avenue Newport Avenue @ Sycamore Avenue Walnut Avenue @ Cherrywood Avenue DISCUSSION The low bid by Intersection Maintenance Service is 5.75% under the Engineer's estimate of $154,194.00.
