HUSTON, CITY MANAGER f -R O;M: PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT/ENGINEERING DIVISION SUBJECT: FINAL ACCEPTANCE OF PUBLIC IMPROVEMENTS WATER MAIN RELOCATION ON EL CAMINO REAL, NISSON ROAD AND RED -- -- �HhLL.-AVENUE._.-(_P-ROJECT_NOS ..._.6 0 0 0 8 3_,__6 0.0-0 8 4 ..._6.0 0.0-8.5. f ___AND__8 0.0-0.3 Z RECOMMENDATION It is recommended that the City Council at their meeting of June 17, 1991 adopt the attached resolution accepting said work and authorizing the recordation of the Notice of Completion. Assuming no claims or stop payment notices are filed, it is further recommended that 30 days after the date of recordation of the notice of completion, that the Council authorize payment of the final 5% retention amount of $18,986.43. This amount, together with previous payments of $360,742.33 represents 100% of the final contract amount. BACKGROUND This project encompassed the installation of street light conduit on E1 Camino Real and Nisson Road and the relocation of water mains on E1 Camino Real, Nisson Road, and Red Hill Avenue to accommodate Caltrans I-5/SR-55 Interchange Project, Stage 2. The work has been completed to the satisfaction of the Engineering Division. The final contract amount for the E1 Camino Real is $138,505.62. This represents an overrun of 4.8 percent from the original contract amount of $132,176.00 The final contract amount for Nisson Road is $106,533.64. This represents an underrun of 0.8 percent from the original amount of $107,350.00 The final contract amount for Red Hill Avenue is $134,689.50. This represents an overrun of 21.5 percent from the original amount of $110,869.00. This overrun is attributable to the relocation of an old storm drain and to the repair of failed pavement caused by uncompacted backfill for an old sewer main. Bob Ledendecker Wisam Altowaiji - Director of Public Works/ Associate Civil Engineer City Engineer BL:klb:ACCEPT 1 2 3 4 5 61 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 221 23 24 25 26 27 28 RESOLUTION NO. 91-87 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUSTIN, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING WORKS OF IMPROVEMENT AND AUTHORIZING RECORDATION OF NOTICE OF COMPLETION FOR THE WATER MAIN RELOCATION ON EL CAMINO REAL, NISSON ROAD AND RED HILL AVENUE, PROJECT NOS. 600083, 600084, 600085, 800037. WHEREAS, Colich & Sons (Joint Venture), having a contract with the City of Tustin to construct the hereinafter described public work and improvement; and WHEREAS, the City Engineer has duly certified to the construction and completion of said public improvements hereinafter mentioned in a manner satisfactory to the City Council of the City of Tustin; and WHEREAS, the City Council finds that said contractor has completed said public improvement hereinafter more particularly described in accordance with the provisions of the contract documents and the notice of completion, and acceptance of said public work and improvement should be filed and payment of the balance due said contract authorized in accordance with the contract documents. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Tustin that said public work and improvement be, and the same is hereby accepted. Said public work and improvement is more particularly described as follows: The Water Main Relocation on E1 Camino Real, Nisson Road and Red Hill Avenue, Project Nos. 600083, 600084, 600085, and 800037. AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Engineer of the City of Tustin be and is hereby authorized to execute and file a notice of completion and acceptance of said public work and improvement described herein as required by law.
