EDINGER AVENUE/JAMBOREE ROAD GRADE SEPARATION - STATUS REPORT RECOMMENDATIONS: Receive and file. BACKGROUND: At the July 15, 1991, meeting Council requested staff to pursue the feasibility of including a grade separation project within the Measure M Funding Program for the intersection of Edinger Avenue and Jamboree Road. This grade separation project would include Jamboree Road bridging over Edinger Avenue with a diamond type interchange connection to Edinger Avenue. DISCUSSION: Staff has received the following tentative information from the Orange County Local Transportation Authority (OCLTA) regarding the availability of Measure M funding to the local agencies: 1. Solicitation of applications for Regional Street and Road projects in November, 1991. 2. Application deadline in March 1992. 3. OCLTA final action on projects in June, 1992. Staff feels that the Edinger Avenue and Jamboree Road grade separation project would qualify as an eligible project in the Regional Street and Road project category, as it is the intersection of two current super streets. Additionally, after the completion of the westerly leg of the Eastern Transportation Corridor, Jamboree Road, at this intersection will serve as the transition from the corridor to the super street. It is also staffs intention to work with the City of Irvine staff to submit this project as a joint City project due to the upcoming reorganization of Irvine -Tustin boundary, along the centerline of Jamboree Road. As additional information is developed on this matter, staff will provide the City Council with status reports on the project. Bob Ledendecker Director of Public Works/City Engineer BL:ccg:blgrade
