08 APPROVE GRANT OF EASEMENT TO SO CAL EDISON - CENTENNIAL PARK

STACK, DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS/CITY ENGINEER SUBJECT: APPROVE GRANT OF EASEMENT TO THE SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA EDISON COMPANY OVER A PORTION OF CENTENNIAL PARK SUMMARY Southern California Edison (SCE) has determined it to be necessary to replace cables connecting two transformers located on the cul-de-sacs of Attboro Place and Cheshire Place. It is necessary for the City of Tustin to grant an easement to SCE over the City owned Centennial Park property for the installation of conduit and pull boxes and for access and maintenance purposes. RECOMMENDATION It is recommended that the City Council grant an easement to the Southern California Edison Company over a portion of Parcel 2 of Lot Line Adjustment No. 83-2, Recorded October 21, 1983 as Document No. 83-465817 in the Orange County Recorder's Office, as shown on the attached easement document exhibits for electrical facilities and access purposes, and authorize the Mayor and City Clerk to execute the document on behalf of the City. FISCAL IMPACT There is no fiscal impact associated with this item. CORRELATION TO THE STRATEGIC PLAN This agreement contributes to the fulfillment of the City's Strategic Plan, Goal D: Strong Community and Regional Relationships, Strategy #2, by working collaboratively with other agencies to address issues of mutual interest and concern. DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND Southern California Edison (SCE) has determined it to be necessary to replace cables connecting two transformers located on the cul-de-sacs of Attboro Place and Cheshire Place. The alignment of these facilities crosses over a portion of the Centennial Park property, which is owned by the City of Tustin. Although these new facilities are to replace existing facilities in the same area, an easement was never granted at the time of the original installation. At this time, SCE requires an easement to be granted to them for installation of conduit and pull boxes and for access and maintenance purposes.
