HUSTON, CITY MANAGER FROM: PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT/ENGINEERING DIVISION SUBJECT: AWARD OF CONTRACT FOR WATER MAIN REPLACEMENT ON WOODLAND DRIVE, ZIG ZAG WAY AND "B" STREET. PROJECT NOS. 600089, _------------ RECOMMENDATION It is recommended that the Tustin City Council at their meeting of September 16, 1991 award the contract for the subject project to R.L.T. Construction, Inc., of Anaheim, California, in the amount of $125,671.00. BACKGROUND Bids were opened September 5, 1991 for subject project and twelve (12 ) bids were received as follows: 1. R.L.T. Construction Inc. 2. R & L Sewers, Inc. 3. Marina Contractors, Inc. 4. Amick Construction Co., Inc. 5. Jana Contracting Corp. 6. Steve Casada Construction Co. 7. Artukovich Construction, Inc. 8. Gary J. Herman, Inc. 9. Ruiz Engineering Co. 10. Macco Constructors, Inc. 11. Steven F. Shacklett 12. Southern California Pipeline Construction, Inc. $125,671.00 $139,014.25 $142,723.35 $144,820.00 $156,192.00 $158,212.50 $184,176.52 $194,875.50 $197,518.80 $209,427.50 $229,401.00 $229r699.37- The 229,699.32 The low bid by R.L.T. Construction, Inc. is 28% under the engineer's estimate of $175,514.00. These projects will provide for the replacement of deteriorated water mains sawcut and removal and replace asphalt concrete at various locations mentioned above in the City of Tustin and in the unincorporated territory of Orange County. Funding for these projects will be provided by the 1991-92 FY Capital Improvement Budget. Currently there is a total of $257,100.00 budgeted for these projects.
