TO: WILLIAM A. HUSTON, CITY MANAGER
FROM: PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT/ENGINEERING DIVISION
SUBJECT: TUSTIN HIGH SCHOOL PARKING LOT WALL HEIGHT
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Receive and file.
BACKGROUND:
At the City Council meeting of September 3, 1991, Councilman Edgar
requested staff to review the wall height along the easterly
property line of the Tustin High School parking lot and advise if
the wall is to be constructed to the standard wall height.
DISCUSSION:
Mr. Bill Teeter of the Tustin Unified School District was contacted
regarding the subject wall construction and he provided the
following information.
1. The original six foot high concrete block wall between
the original school parking lot and the apartments was
constructed by and belonged to the apartment development.
2. Caltrans, as a part of the acquisition of properties paid
the owners of the apartment development for the
replacement of the wall.
3. The wall that exists this date has been constructed by
the School District as a retaining wall and will not be
extended in height.
4. The School District will install a chainlink fence along
the common property line between the district parking lot
and the apartment development.
It appears that if a screen wall is to be constructed adjacent to
the school parking lot, it would be the responsibility of the
apartment development.
