SUBJECT: AUTHORIZATION TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR WATER MAIN RELOCATION
IN EL CAMINO WAY (PROJECT NO. 600095, P.W. FILE NO. W -91-3A)
RECOMMENDATIONS:
It is recommended that the Tustin City Council at their meeting of
October 7, 1991, adopt the attached resolution approving plans and
specifications for the relocation of water mains in E1 Camino Way
and in the alley between the El Camino Plaza and the I-5 Freeway.
BACKGROUND:
As a result of the I5-SR55 Freeway Interchange widening, Caltrans
will be relocating and reconstructing a portion of E1 Camino Way
and the freeway on-ramp west of Newport Avenue.
These street relocations will require the water mains in El Camino
Way and in the alley between the El Camino Plaza and the I-5
Freeway, be removed and reconstructed within newly acquired 15 ft.
wide utility easements.
A major portion of the cost of the water main relocations on both
El Camino Way and the alley will be reimbursed by Caltrans as a
part of the previously approved Utility Agreement No. 12088.
DISCUSSION:
The following is the anticipated schedule for construction which
may be subject to change depending upon the date of final plan
approval by Caltrans:

RESOLUTION NO. 91-133
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUSTIN,
CALIFORNIA, APPROVING PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE
RELOCATION OF WATER MAINS ON EL CAMINO WAY AND ON THE
ALLEY BETWEEN EL CAMINO PLAZA AND THE I-5 FREEWAY AND
AUTHORIZING ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS
WHEREAS, it is the intention of the City Council of the
City of Tustin, California to contract construction for
Relocation of Water Mains on E1 Camino Way and on the alley
between E1 Camino Plaza and the I-5 Freeway; and
WHEREAS, the City Engineer has presented plans and
specifications for the construction of said work;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the plans and
specifications presented by the City Engineer be and are
hereby approved as the plans and specifications for:
Water Main Relocation on El Camino Way
(Project No. 600095)
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk is hereby
authorized and directed to advertise as required by law for
the receipt of sealed bids or proposals for the doing of the
work specified in the aforesaid plans and specifications;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this project is categorically
exempt from the requirements of the California Environmental
Quality Act; Class I: Existing Facilities.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of Tustin this 7th
day of October, 1991.
