AUTHORIZATION TO ADVERTISE FOR S - TRAFFIC SIGNAL
TUSTIN RANCH ROAD AND
STJBJECT: INSTALLATION AND MEDIAN MODIFICATION AT
AUTO CENTER DRIVE
RECOMMENDATIONS:
That the Tustin City Council adopt the attached Resolution
approving plans and specifications for traffic signal installation
and median modification at Tustin Ranch Road and Auto Center Drive.
BACKGROUND:
The completion of Tustin Ranch Road from Walnut Avenue northerly
along with the completion of the Tustin Ranch Road/I-5 Freeway
Interchange has necessitated the installation of the Assessment
District 85-1 traffic signal at the intersection of Tustin Ranch
Road and Auto Center Drive.
In addition, minor modifications to the center median on Tustin
Ranch Road at the southbound left turn pocket to Auto Center Drive
will be done.
DISCUSSION:
Funding for this project will be provided with Assessment District
85-1 monies. There is presently $324,000 in the fiscal year 1991-
92 budget for Assessment District 85-1 traffic signals and $50,000
in the 1991-92 budget for the center median modification.
The Engineer's estimate for this project is $121,000.
The tentative schedule for this project is as follows:

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
HECIITY OFONSSTINt
FOR
CALIFORNIA, APPROVING PLANS AND
TRAFFIC SIGNAL INSTALLATION AND MEDIAE MODIFICATION AT
TUSTIN RANCH ROAD AND AUTO CENTER DRI
WHEREAS, it is the intention of the City Council of the
City of Tustin, California to installa traffic signal on
Tustin Ranch Road at Auto Center Drive and construct center
median modifications; and
WHEREAS, the City Engineer has presented plans and
specifications for the construction of said work:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that hebe plans and are
specifications presented by the City Engineer
hereby approved as the plans and specifications for:
Traffic signal installation and median modification
at Tustin Ranch Road and Auto Center Drive
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk is hereby
authorized and directed to advertise as required by law for
for the doing of the
the receipt and sealed bids or proposal
work specified in the aforesaid plans and specifications;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this project is categorically
exempt from the requirements of the California Environmental
Quality Act; Class I: Existing Facilities.
PASSED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting on the City
Council of .the City of Tustin, held on the 7th day of October,
1991.
