SUBJECT: MULTICULTURAL PARENT CONFERENCE
RECOMMENDATION:
Pleasure of the City Council.
BACKGROUND:
Council has asked whether the City should make a financial donation
to the Tustin Unified School District's Multicultural Parent
Conference to be held Saturday, October 26, 1991. The goal of the
conference is to provide parents with a variety of resources and
workshops and to increase the parents' awareness regarding the
importance of their participation in their children's educational
process.
Both the Police Department and the Community Services Department
will have a booth at this conference. The staff will be providing
information on Community Services Department programs and Police
Department programs, as well as community resource information such
as the Child Care Directory. In addition, the staff will asking
for feedback from the community regarding suggestions for programs
that deal with youth at risk as well as the Southwest Tustin
neighborhood.
Since the City will be involved in the Conference and will
contribute staff time, this may supplant a monetary donation.
Additional funding is at the discretion of the City Council.
