FISCAL IMPACT: Police Department Salaries Temporary Use Permit Public Works Inspection Total DISCUSSION: $256.00 75.00 281.,88 $612.88 The Tustin Public Schools Foundation is holding a 5K Dinosaur Dash on Sunday December 1, 1991. The Foundation is raising funds to provide teacher grants in the classroom, staff training, workshops and seminars. The Foundation is requesting that the Council waive fees for the services of the Police and Public Works Departments. The Police Department will be required for security and street closures. The 5K Run is scheduled to begin at 8:00 a.m. and the 2K, at 9:00 a.m. Awards will be presented immediately following the event at 10:00 a.m. It is estimated that the services of the Police Department will be required for 4 hours. The Police Department has indicated that it will rely upon the extensive use of Explorers to keep the number of uniformed Officers required to two, which includes a Sergeant. The hourly :,rate for the two Officers will be $36.50 and $27.50 respectively. The total cost for the Officers' salaries for four hours will be $256.00. The Foundation is requesting that the fee be waived for a Temporary Use Permit. This permit normally costs $75.00. In addition, the estimated labor cost for the Public Works Department inspection to verify traffic control set up and removal is $282. The Public Works Department has offered to waive any fees for the rental of barricades. Approximately 30-40 barricades and 500 delineators will be required for the event. The Tustin Schools Foundation will be responsible for picking up and placing the barricades and delineators in order to reduce costs. The City Council has the discretion to waive city fees as related to this event. The Tustin Schools Foundation is a non-profit group committed to improving the quality of education for local children.
