SUBJECT: AWARD OF CONTRACT FOR TRAFFIC SIGNAL INSTALLATION AND MEDIAN
MODIFICATION AT TUSTIN RANCH ROAD AND AUTO CENTER DRIVE
RECOMMENDATIONS:
It is recommended that the Tustin City Council, at their meeting of
November 18, 1991, award the contract for the subject project to
F. J. Johnson, Inc. in the amount of $88,887.00.
BACKGROUND:
Bids were opened November 8, 1991 for the subject project and eight
bids were received as follows:

The low bid by F.J. Johnson is 15.8% under the Engineers estimate
of $105,610.00.
The completion of Tustin Ranch Road from Walnut Avenue northerly,
along with the completion of the Tustin Ranch Road/I-5 Freeway
Interchange has necessitated the installation of the Assessment
District 85-1 traffic signal at the intersection of Tustin Ranch
Road and Auto Center Drive.
In addition, minor modifications to the center median on Tustin
Ranch Road at the southbound left turn pocket to Auto Center Drive
will be done.
Funding for this project will be provided with Assessment District
85-1 monies. There is presently $324,000 in the fiscal year 1991-
92 budget for Assessment District 85-1 traffic signals and $50,000
in the 1991-92 budget for the center median modification.
