HUSTON, CITY MANAGER F;4101P•11: PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT/ENGINEERING DIVISION SUBJECT: AWARD OF CONTRACT FOR WATER MAIN RELOCATION ON MAIN STREET AT I-5 FREEWAY (PROJECT NO. 900095B, P.W. FILE W91 -3B) RECOMMENDATION It is recommended that the Tustin City Council, at their meeting of December 2, 1991, award the contract to Savala Construction Company, Irvine, in the amount of $200,290.37 for the subject project. BACKGROUND Three bids were received on November 21, 1991 and are summarized as follows: Savala Construction Company, Irvine ............. $200,290.37 John T. Malloy (JV), Los Angeles ...............$209,932.50 Robert G. Castognia Inc., Downey ...............$241,793.00 The low bid is 5.3% above the engineer's estimate of $190,205.00. The current budget provides $500,400.00 for water main relocations prompted by Caltrans freeway widening Stage III. The amount of $86,834.00 has been previously allocated for the water main relocation in E1 Camino Way. Therefore, $217,191.23 will remain for the water main relocations on Main Street at SR -55 freeway and on Nisson Road between Pasadena Avenue and "B" Street. Robert S.
