HUSTON, CITY MANAGER COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT SUBJECT: DISPOSITION OF SURPLUS TRAILER RECOMMENDATION CONSENT CALENDAR NO. 3 5-6-91, Inter - Com It is recommended that the City Council declare the item detailed in this report surplus, and not required for public use and authorize the City's purchasing agent to dispose of the item in accordance with Ordinance 871 of the City of Tustin. BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION Section 1626a(2) of the City of Tustin Ordinance 871 discusses the disposition of property and requires the purchasing agent to make a written estimate of the value of any surplus items not useable by the City or not required for public use. Further, the City Council must find that these surplus items are not required for public use and after said finding, the purchasing agent shall have the authority to sell such items in accordance with Section 1625c and Section 1625d of Ordinance 871, whichever is applicable. The City purchased two trailers approximately three years ago to accommodate overcrowded conditions at City Hall and in the Police Department. The Police Department trailer will no longer be needed by the City after temporary relocation of the Police Department to City Hall and are surplus due to the expansion of City Hall. The engineering/planning trailer will be retained on-site during construction as a construction trailer and upon completion of construction a similar surplus action. The estimated value of the trailer was calculated by straight-line depreciation method based on a 10 year service life (See Exhibit A). The City is prepared to sell the described trailer listed below by sealed bid. Said bids to be received in the City Clerk's Office by 10:00 a.m. on June 17, 1991.
