SUBJECT: DISPOSITION OF SURPLUS TRAILER
RECOMMENDATION
CONSENT CALENDAR NO. 3
5-6-91,
Inter - Com
It is recommended that the City Council declare the item detailed
in this report surplus, and not required for public use and
authorize the City's purchasing agent to dispose of the item in
accordance with Ordinance 871 of the City of Tustin.
BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION
Section 1626a(2) of the City of Tustin Ordinance 871 discusses the
disposition of property and requires the purchasing agent to make
a written estimate of the value of any surplus items not useable by
the City or not required for public use. Further, the City Council
must find that these surplus items are not required for public use
and after said finding, the purchasing agent shall have the
authority to sell such items in accordance with Section 1625c and
Section 1625d of Ordinance 871, whichever is applicable. The City
purchased two trailers approximately three years ago to accommodate
overcrowded conditions at City Hall and in the Police Department.
The Police Department trailer will no longer be needed by the City
after temporary relocation of the Police Department to City Hall
and are surplus due to the expansion of City Hall. The
engineering/planning trailer will be retained on-site during
construction as a construction trailer and upon completion of
construction a similar surplus action. The estimated value of the
trailer was calculated by straight-line depreciation method based
on a 10 year service life (See Exhibit A).
The City is prepared to sell the described trailer listed below by
sealed bid. Said bids to be received in the City Clerk's Office by
10:00 a.m. on June 17, 1991.
