FROM: PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT/ENGINEERING DIVISION
SUBJECT: SB 821 BICYCLE/PEDESTRIAN FACILITIES, PROJECT APPLICATION FOR
FISCAL YEAR 1991-92
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Tustin City Council, at their meeting of
May 6, 1991, adopt a resolution approving the application for
Bicycle and/or Pedestrian Facility Funds under SB 821.
BACKGROUND:
An allocation of $15,771 will be available to the City in FY 1991-
92 under the SB 821 Program for Bicycle and/or Pedestrian
Facilities. New sidewalk and handicap ramp projects are proposed
at the north side of Walnut Avenue, between the AT&SF Railroad
easement and Myford Road, to use all available funds for FY 1991-92
The proposed construction of a portion of the north side of Walnut
Avenue in the industrial area will provide continuous concrete
sidewalk and handicap ramps at major commercial driveways between
the railroad easement and Myford Road. The SB 821 sidewalk and
handicap ramps project for FY 1990-91 was approved by OCTC on July
91 1990 to construct the portion of sidewalk on the north side of
Walnut Avenue, west of the proposed project, between Tustin Ranch
Road and the railroad easement.
The approved sidewalk project for this fiscal year, 1990-91, will
be delayed and will be ready for bid with the proposed sidewalk
project above in February 1992 after we receive approval of this
application from the Orange County Transportation Commission.
