BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION:
In April 2014, a new water play element at Frontier Park was constructed using
equipment from Vortex Aquatic Play Solutions. In July 2014, due to the state drought
conditions, the decision was made to cease operating the water play element. It was
decided at that time to pursue the installation of a retrofit recirculation system that would
treat the water used in the system so it could be safely recycled.
The scope of work for this project included the installation of a water quality
management system, along with a 4,000 gallon under-ground holding tank, an outdoor
shower, and all of the associated plumbing, electrical, and concrete work.
The project was completed on May 4, 2016. The City has retained 10% of the contract
amount, which will be released no sooner than 35 days after the recordation of the Notice
of Completion with the County Recorder's Office.
