The 1991 Celebrate the Family week event is rapidly approaching.
Scheduled for May 12-19, 1991, this community event will offer a
variety of educational and recreational programs designed to
highlight family and community enrichment. The aim of Celebrate
the Family Week is to promote family togetherness through
recreational opportunities that are fun, enjoyable for the whole
family and will leave our community feeling good about Tustin.
Through the planning process, several co -sponsorships have been
developed. The Tustin Market Place has graciously provided their
property and financial support for the staging of the 5K/10K Run
event scheduled for Saturday, May 19. The Tustin Area Council for
the Arts will be assembling a gallery display depicting family life
in Orange County to be featured at the Tustin Area Senior Center.
Staff is in the process of arranging family picnics with local
neighborhood associations. Mothers at Work and the Kids Center,
City sponsored child care programs, are planning very special open
houses. The local newspapers have been contacted about featuring
41
essays on the family from Tustin students.
The Tustin Area Senior Center will be the site for a Friday night
Spaghetti Dinner/Concert. The weeks activities will culminate at
the Tustin Market Place with a Pancake Breakfast and will kick-off
the 5K/10K Run and Walk event which will be followed by awards and
entertainment. Information will be on display that morning of
Tustin's Family Programs.
