Inter - Com FROM: PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT/ENGINEERING DIVISION PROFESSIONAL SERVICES AGREEMENT FOR THE STREET REHABILITATION/ SUBJECT: WATER MAIN REPLACEMENT ON NISSON ROAD AND THE WATER MAIN REPLACEMENT ON EL CAMINO REAL (PROJECT NOS. -6000861700108 FILE NOS. W90-4, R90-3) RECOMMENDATION: For consideration by the City Council at their meeting of February 4, 1991. It is recommended that the City Council authorize City staff to process a Professional Services Agreement with Willdan Associates, for the street rehabilitation/water main replacement on Nisson Road (between Newport Avenue and Red Hill Avenue) and the water main replacement on E1 Camino Real (between Newport Avenue and Orange Street) in the amount of $41,800.00, and authorize execution of the agreement by the Mayor and City Clerk. BACKGROUND: Proposals were solicited from four consulting engineering firms to provide survey and detailed topographic mapping services, final design and preparation of plans, and complete specifications for the projects . The four firms that submitted a proposal were as follows: Willdan Associates Boyer Engineering Company, Inc. GFB-Friedrich and Associates, Inc. David Evans and Associates, Inc. DISCUSSION: The four proposals have been evaluated by three staff members on the basis of demonstrated competence, professional qualifications necessary for the satisfactory performance of the required services, and familiarity and prior experience with providing this type of service. The firm of Willdan Associates has been recommended by the selection committee to perform the consulting services necessary for the pavement rehabilitation, curb and gutter construction and the water main replacement on Nisson Road from Newport Avenue to Red Hill Avenue and for the water main replacement on E1 Camino Real from Newport Avenue to Orange Street. The consulting services fee will be charged to the allocated Capital Improvement Program Budget (1990-91 FY) for these projects.
