Box 491, Tustin, California 92680 January 11, 1991 Mayor Richard B. Edgar and Members of City Council City of Tustin 300 Centennial Wa.y Tustin, Ca. 92680 Dear Mayor Edgar and Members of City Council: JAN 1 41991 ADMINISTRATION The Tustin Meadows Community Association is hereby formally requesting that stop signs be installed at the intersection of Roanoke Avenue and Darsy Circle in Tustin Meadows. We previously made this request to Mr. Bob Ledendecker and a warrant study was made. Upon completion of this study, the request was denied. We then requested stop signs at Roanoke Avenue and Kingston Avenue and Roanoke Avenue and Hampden Avenue. These requests were also denied. Our community has a tremendous traffic problem on Roanoke between Oxford and Sycamore. Commuters cut through the Meadows to avoid the intersection of Red Hill and Walnut, and do so at excessive speeds. A recent traffic survey done on this section of Roanoke indicated it was carrying twice as many cars per day as it was intended to carry. We are very much concerned about the safety of our children. There have also been accidents involving cars attempting to ex -it side streets onto Roanoke. With Roanoke being a curving street, drivers are in some cases unable to see speeding cars. There should perhaps be some red curbs in some of these areas. We feel stop signs at Roanoke and Darsy are warranted as much as those at Brookshire and Glen Arbor and at Canterbury and Sycamore in Tustin Meadows, as well as those on First Street between Red Hill and Newport. We would appreciate having this item agendized for the January 21, 1991 City Council meeting. Yours truly, Rex Combs, President Tustin Meadows Community Association cc: William Huston, City Manager
