REQUEST FOR TREE REMOVALS
R ECOM MEN DATION:
That the City Council approve the Public Works Departments' recommendation on tree
removals as shown on the attached exhibit.
BACKGROUND:
The attached is a consolidation of requests which have been received from various
property owners regarding trees within the public-right-of-way. In all cases, with the
exception of commercial areas, adjacent property owners have been surveyed and the
results are so indicated.
All trees will be removed and replaced by City crews. Replacement will be with a tree of
acceptable species from the City's approved list, as stated in the specific
recommendation.

~ That the City remove the Ficus tree from the parkway in front of her
property.
STAFF EVALUATION: The tree has caused damage to the irrigation lines, there is also
slight damage to the cement areas.
NEIGHBOR RESPONSE; Yes 0, No 0, No Response 0
RECOMMENDATION: That the tree be rem(~ved and replaced at City expenSe.
Replacement will be with a Crepe Myrtle, planted with a root barrier and deep watering
system.
ESTIMATED COST: Staff estimated the cost of labor, equipment and material to comply
with this request to be, $130.00.

REQUEST: That the City remove the Carrot Wood trees from the parkway in front of
this property.
STAFF EVALUATION: This is the second request by the homeowner that the trees be
removed. There is no damage to cement areas, but the parkway turf is raised near the
trunks of the trees.
NEIGHBOR RESPONSE: Yes 3, No 1, No Response 0
RECOMMENDATION: That the trees be removed at City expense as Iow priority. After
the homeowner has re-landscaped the area, replace the trees with two Southern
Magnolias, planted with a root barrier and deep watering system.
ESTIMATED COST: Staff estimates the cost of labor, equipment and material to comply
with this request to be, $290.00.

property.
STAFF EVALUATION: The two Pear trees have been found to be diseased, root bound
and hightly unsightly.
NEIGHBOR REPSONSE: Yes 4, No 0, No Response 0
RECOMMENDATION; That the Pear trees be removed at City expense and replaced with
Carrott Woods planted with a root barrier and deep watering system.
ESTIMATED COST: Staff estimates the cost of labor, equipment and materials to
comply with this request to be, $290.00.
