PROCLAMATION ~ OFFICER RON FRAZIER AND CANINE PARTNER GUNDO
Recommenda C i on
The City Council, at its meeting of February 6, 1989, show its support of
the Police Canine Program by issuing a proclamation recognizing Officer Ron
Frazier and his canine partner, "Gundo", upon their retirement from the
Canine Program.
Background
Gundo was purchased iq February 1985 when he was five years old. Given
Gundo's age and condition, the Police DepartmenT determined that his value
had completely depreciated and he was retired.
The City Council previously authorized the transfer of ownership of Gundo to
Officer Frazier. That transfer became effective January 7, 1989, th~ date
of Gundo's retirement.
Officer Frazier and Canine Gundo will attend the City Council's meeting of
February 6, 1989, to accept the proclamation. Acting Operations Division
Commander Lieutenant Chuck Crane, Canine Coordinator Sergeant Mark
Bergquist, members of the press, and I will also be present.
Additionally, representatives of the Tustin Police Officers' Association
will attend the meeting to present a plaque to Officer Frazier and Canine
Gundo for a "job well done.".
