HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC 12 WTR MAIN RELOC 02-06-89  CONSENT CALENDAR i- Inter-com OAT~: ~UARY 31~ 1989 TO: WILLIAM HUSTON, CITY MANAGER FROM: PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT/ENGINEERING DIVISION SUBJECT: AUTHORIZATION TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR WATER MAIN RELOCATION ON McFADDEN AVENUE ACROSS RTE. 55 FREEWAY OVERPASS. .. ~ RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that the City Council at their meeting of February 6, 1989 adopt the attached resolution approving the plans and specifications for the subject project and authorizing advertisement for bids. BACKGROUND: This project encompasses the relocation and replacement of the existing water main on McFadden Avenue which .currently runs underneath the 55 Freeway. This relocation is necessary due to the Caltrans project which widens State Highway Route 55 in conjunction with the reconstruction of the Route 5/55 interchange. The engineer's estimate for this work is $58,000. Per utility agreement No. 7U-T-8945, the State of California will reimburse the City for all construction costs as well as any engineering costs incurred in the preparation of plans and estimates for this project. Installation of these improvements is dependent upon the Caltrans construction of the Rte. 55 over. pass. Currently, the Caltrans project is behind schedule. The latest estimate from Caltrans indicates the bridge should be ready for water main installation by the end of May 1989. BL/SW/mv Assistant Civil Engineer J 1 2 5 6 ? 8 9 10 11 12 15 16 17 18 19, 20 :~1 22. 27 25 RESOLUTION NO. 89-23 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUSTIN, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS FOR CONSTRUCTION OF WATER MAIN RELOCATION ON McFADDEN AVENUE ACROSS RTE. 55 FREEWAY OVERPASS AND AUTHORIZING ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS. 'WHEREAS, it is the intention of the City Council of the City of Tustin, California to contract construction for water main relocation on McFadden Avenue across Rte. 55 Freeway overpass. WHEREAS, the City Engineer has presented plans and specifications for the construction of said work; NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the plans and specifications presented by the City Engineer be and are hereby approved as the plans and specifications for: Water Main Relocation on McFadden Avenue Across Rte. 55 Freeway Overpass BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to advertise as required by law for the receipt of sealed bids or proposals for the doing of the work specified in the aforesaid plans and specifications; BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this project is categorically exempt from the requirements of the California Environmental Quality Act; Class I: Existing Facilities.
