FROM: PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT/ENGINEERING DIVISION
SUBJECT: I-5/RTE. 55 INTERCHANGE PROJECT - STATUS REPORT
RECOMMENDATION:
Receive and file.
BACKGROUND:
Caltrans is planning the construction of elevated transitways to connect
the southbound Santa Ana I-5 freeway to the southbound Costa Mesa SR-55
freeway and the northbound SR-55 freeway to the northbound I-5 freeway.
Residents of the residential development at 15500 Tustin Village Way
have repeatedly raised concerns with regard to the elevated transitway
and potential impacts to their residential development as follOws:
* Visual impacts
* Noise impacts
* Parking loss
* Loss of open space/property
* Air quality
DISCUSSION:
Staff was initially contacted by Caltrans' staff to coordinate an
open-house type meeting on Tuesday, February 28, 1989 so that Caltrans
could provide responses to the residents' concerns as well as provide
exhibits/drawings for review.
The Tustin Village Homeowners' group has informed us that the February
28, 1989 date conflicts with their board meeting and they request an
alternate, date. We are attempting to set up Wednesday, February 22,
1989 as the open house date but, as of this writing, we have not
received a confirmation from Caltrans.
Caltrans has indicated that their noise bonsultant is scheduled to
commence the additional noise monitoring work the week of January 30th.
Again, we have received no confirmation from Caltrans on this item.
A copy of this memo will be sent to the Tustin Village Way Homeowners'
committee.
