HUSTON, CITY MANAGER POLICE DEPARTMENT AGREEMENT WITH ASSISTANCE LEAGUE OF TUSTIN Recommendation The City Council authorize execution of the proposed Agreement between the Assistance League of Tustin and the Tustin Police Department for the purpose of sharing in the Operation Hug-A-Bear Project. Back,round _ As a community service the Assistance League of Tustin is sponsoring an Operation Hug-A-Bear Project, whereby the League will purchase and supply stuffed animals to the Tustin Police Department. Police officers will furnish the stuffed animals to children they encounter who have been victims of traumatic situations. The Assistance League of ·.Tustin has asked that we execute the attached Agreement in order to participate in its project. The agreement has been reviewed by and is acceptable to the City Attorney. FRED WAKEFIELD Acting Chief of Police Attachment AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE ASSISTANCE LEAGUE OF TUSTIN AND TUSTIN POLICE DEPARTMENT : · .. 'This AGREEMENT is between ASSISTANCE LEAGUE OF TUSTIN, a nonprofit California corporation, hereinafter referred to as "ALT," and the TUSTIN POLICE DEPARTMENT, hereinafter referred to as "TPD," for the purpose of establishing and conducting an Operation Hug-A-Bear project within the greater Tustin area. A. The name of this project is OPERATION HUG-A-BEAR. B. Assistance League of Tustin agrees that: i · ALT shall purchase and supply stuffed bears or such other stuffed animals as deemed appropriate by both parties to TPD for its officers to give to children in traumatic situations. 2. ALT shall wrap each stuffed animal in a plastic bag along with a self-addressed postcard for the officer to complete for inventory control. Financial contributions to this project by ALT shall be made only as stipulated. Ail other funds retained by ALT shall remain the sole property of ALT and are in no way committed to any other organization· C · Tustin Police Department agrees that: 1. TPD shall distribute the stuffed'animals to those officers who are likely to be in contact with traumatized children. · These officers will give a toy to any child they feel will be comforted by the gift of a stuffed animal after that child has been involved in a traumatic incident. · TPD shall return the self-addressed postcard to ALT after the officer has filled in the information regarding the giving of the stuffed animal. 4. TPD shall not hold ALT or its members. liable for any problems which may arise. D. Insurance 1. ALT shall-provide proper coverage of its ~embers. 2. TPD shall provide proper coverage for its officers. E. Public Relations · ALT retains the right to review all publicity releases which may be issued regarding ALT and its philanthropic projects. · TPD retains the right to review all publicity released by the public relations chairman of ALT regarding this project. F. Evaluation G· This project shall be evaluated annually by the ALT philanthropic projects Committee, the ALT president and those appoints by TPD. They will monitor the project and make appropriate recommendations necessary to insure the success of the project. Provisions for Renewal and Termination of AGREEMENT 1. This AGREEMENT shall be in effect until January 1, 1990, and may be renewed annually thereafter by mutual agreement of TPD and ALT. .2. Either ALT or TPD may terminate this AGREEMENT by giving thirty (30) days written notice. THIS AGREEMENT IS HEREBY ENTERED INTO THIS DAY OF , 19~, AT , CALIFORNIA.
