HUMAN RELATIONS COMMISSION VACANCY
The Orange County Human Relations Commission currently has a
vacancy in the 1st District. Mr. Howard Rosenberg, a Tustin
resident, has expressed an interest in this position. He has
completed the necessary application with the League of California
Cities and would like the endorsement of the Tustin City Council.
Mayor Kennedy would like the matter placed on the May 1, 1989
agenda as an appointment will be made prior to the May 15th Council
Meeting.

MR. ROSENBERG HAS BEEN A RESIDENT OF ORANGE COUNTY FOR MORE THAN
20 YEARS, HAVING MOVED HERE FROM LIDO BEACH, NEW YORK HIS HOME
IN ORANGE COUNTY IS IN TUSTIN. '
HE IS A GRADUATE OF LONG ISLAND UNIVERSITY AND THE GRADUATE
SCHOOL OF NEW YORK UNIVERSITY. HE HAS TAUGHT TECHNICAL COURSES AT
THE UNIVERSITY OF BRIDGEPORT, NEW HAVEN COLLEGE, NORTHEASTERN
UNIVERSITY AND MOST RECENTLY AT IRVINE VALLEY COLLEGE.
IN HIS PROFESSIONAL LIFE, HE IS A PRINCIPAL OF A TECHNICAL
EQUIPMENT DESIGN AND MANUFACTURING COMPANY, WESTERN TECHNOLOGY
ASSOCIATES ANAHEIM CALIFORNIA. HE IS ALSO A MEMBER OF THE
TECHNICAL ADVISORY STAFF AT IRVINE VALLEY COLLEGE.
HE HOLDS A CREDENTIAL AS A PROFESSIONAL QUALITY & RELIABILITY
ENGINEER AND IS A PAST CHAIRMAN OF A NUMBER OF REGIONAL
PROFESSIONAL SOCIETIES.
HE IS MARRIED AND HAS THREE CHILDREN, AND SIX GRANDCHILDREN
IN HIS COMMUNITY LIFE, HE HAS BEEN ACTIVE IN B'NAI B'RITH SINCE
1955 AND LOCALLY AS AN ADL REP, LODGE PROGRAM CHAIRMAN AND
EDITOR. HE IS CURRENTLY PRESIDENT OF THE JEWISH COMMUNITY CENTER
OF CENTRAL ORANGE COUNTY. HE ALSO SERVES AS A DIRECTOR OF THE
ORANGE COUNTY JEWISH FEDERATION.
HIS ACTIVITIES WITH THE ANTI-DEFAMATION LEAGUE FOR THE PAST EIGHT
YEARS INCLUDE CHAIRMANSHIP OF SEVERAL COMMITTEES AND ORANGE
COUNTY REGIONAL BOARD CHAIRMAN THROUGH 1988. HE HAS BEEN A
NATIONAL COMMISSIONER FROM ORANGE COUNTY FOR A NUMBER OF YEARS
AND CURRENTLY SERVES ON THE NATIONAL CIVIL RIGHTS COMMITTEE, THE
INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS COMMITTEE. WITHIN THE LOCAL REGION HE
PARTICIPATES IN AN ONGOING CATHOLIC/JEWISH DIALOGUE, AND IN THE
ADL GOVERNMENTAL RELATIONS COMMITTEE.
MOST RECENTLY HE WAS APPOINTED BY THE ORANGE COUNTY BOY SCOUTS OF

HUMAN RELATIONS COMMISSION - 1ST DISTRICT
- ONE POSITION
RESPONSIBILITIES: Deals with intergrOup tensions, fosters mutual understanding and respect
among all citizens of Orange County and promotes measures to eliminate
prejudice, intolerance and discriminations ag.ainst any individual or group of
race, religion, national origin, sex, age or cultural background.
MEETING TIME:
Fourth Wednesday of each month, beginning at 7:00 p.m. Requires
approximately ten hours per month.
LOCATION:
Qounty Office

Santa Ana
COMPENSATION: $ 75.00 per meeting
TERM:
ELIGIBILITY:
Two-year term beginning upon election at the May 11, 1989 meeting of the
Orange County Division.
