HUSTON, CITY MANAGER COMMUNITY SERVICES DEPARTMENT PRESENTATION NO. 1 1-15-90 Inter - Com SUBJECT: GIFT TO THE TUSTIN AREA SENIOR CENTER FUND FROM THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER DAY SAINTS, IRVINE STAKE, YOUTH GROUP Last summer the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Irvine Stake, Youth Group, conducted a car wash for the purpose of raising funds to benefit senior programs in the Tustin area. A sum of $402 was raised through this effort. This fall representatives of the group met with Senior Center staff for a building tour and to discuss the various alternatives for use of the funds at the Senior Center. After touring the building and learning about the activities at the Senior Center, it was determined that the money would be donated for the purchase of a mirror ball and party lighting to be used at such special events as the popular ballroom dances which attract as many as 200 dancers. Brent Arave, advisor to the group, as well as members of the youth group will be on hand at the January 15, 1990, City Council Meeting to present a check in the amount of $402 to Margarete Thompson, President of the Tustin Area Senior Center Fund, Inc.
