PLACEMENT OF STOP SIGNS: (1) ALL -WAY STOP AT RAINTREE LANE AND FIG
TREE DRIVE, (2) ONE-WAY SOUTHBOUND STOP ON CHERRYWOOD LANE AT FIG
RECOMMENDATION:
That the Tustin City Council at their meeting of January 15, 1990, pass and
adopt the attached resolution authorizing the placement of stop signs at the
subject locations.
DISCUSSION
As part of the City's ongoing evaluations of residential areas, two locations
-- have been identified where stop signs are required. When such devices have not
been installed, drivers tend to travel faster than normal - especially around
corners. Therefore, as part of neighborhood traffic control needs, the
identified stop sign locations will provide more positive speed controls at
intersections through better right-of-way assignment.
It is proposed that the Fig Tree Drive intersection, with Raintree Lane, be
stopped in all directions (4 -way stop). The other location would involve
Cherrywood Lane, at Fig Tree, where only the southbound direction of Cherrywood
would be stopped at Fig Tree. This proposal has been reviewed and approved by
the Peppertree Homeowners Association.
