HomeMy WebLinkAboutNB 3 TRAFFIC SIG IMPROV 2-20-90DATE: TO: FROM: SUBJECT: a•ao•C/o FEBRUARY 13, 1990 WILLIAM HUSTON, CITY MANAGER PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT/ENGINEERING DIVISION NEW BUSINESS NO. 3 2-20-90 Inter - Com AWARD OF CONTRACT FOR TRAFFIC SIGNAL IMPROVEMENTS AT MAIN AND STONEGLASS, MAIN AND EL CAMINO REAL, AND WALNUT AND FRANKLIN RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that the Tustin City Council at their meeting of February 20, 1990 award the contract for the subject project to Intersection Maintenance Service in the amount of $145,000.00. BACKGROUND: Bids were opened February 13, 1990 for subject project and six bids were received as follows: Intersection Maintenance Service $145,000.00 Steiny $148,930.00 F.J. Johnson $156,542.00 William Hahn $166,400.00 Paul Gardner $170,277.00 Signal Maintenance $172,030.00 The low bid by Intersection Maintenance Service is 3.3% under the Engineer's estimate of $150,100.00 and will be funded with Fiscal Year 89-90 general- fund monies ($189,300.00). This project will provide for the construction of traffic signal improvements as follows: 1. New traffic signal and safety lighting installation at Main Street and Stoneglass. 2. Modification to the existing traffic signal at Main Street and El Camino Real to provide protected left -turn movements in all directions. 3. Modification to the existing traffic signal at Walnut Avenue and Franklin Avenue to provide protected left -turn movements from Walnut Avenue to Franklin Avenue.
