SUBJECT: KEY INTERSECTION ACCIDENT SURVEILLANCE
RECOMMENDATION:
Receive and file.
BACKGROUND:
A recent memo from the City's Consulting Traffic Engineer provided
information to the Council as to the monitoring of 16 intersections in
the City. Briefly, the memo indicated that the reason the locations
were monitored was to identify accident patterns. Once the reason for
these "patterns" was identified, accident reduction measures could be
evaluated and implemented.
The City Council expressed interest in the information and requested a
more detailed list which specifically identified the intersections in
question. The following provides the requested information.

Irvine Boulevard between Yorba Street and 55 Freeway
Newport Avenue and Irvine Boulevard
Irvine Boulevard and Elizabeth Way
Newport Avenue and Sycamore Avenue
Newport Avenue and Walnut Avenue
Newport Avenue and McFadden Avenue
Newport Avenue and Mitchell Avenue
Newport Avenue and El Camino Avenue
Red Hill Avenue and Sycamore Avenue
Red Hill Avenue and Walnut Avenue
Red Hill Avenue south of Nisson Road
Red Hill Avenue and Bryan Avenue
McFadden Avenue and Pasadena Avenue
Newport Avenue and Main Street
McFadden Avenue and Tustin Village Way
Red Hill Avenue and Irvine Boulevard
