HUSTON, CITY MANAGER FROM: POLICE DEPARTMENT CONSENT CALENDAR NO. 13 3-5-90 Inter -Corte SUBJECT: HOLD HARMLESS AGREEMENT - O. C. S. O. Recommendation That Council execute the proposed Hold Harmless Agreement with the Orange County Sheriff's Department for use of the facility at the South Coast Gun Club for shotgun familiarization and transitional training from revolvers to semiautomatic weapons. Background The Orange County Sheriff's Department is requesting the Hold Harmless Agreement from agencies wishing to use their facilities for special events and not requiring a member of the Orange County Sheriff's Department to be present during the special event. Not requiring a member of the Sheriff's Department to be present gives agencies more access to the special equipment during days and hours when Sheriff's personnel are not available or necessary. In past shotgun familiarization courses, there has not been any special help or monitoring by the facility being used. The entire event is set up, monitored and run by the Tustin Police Department personnel and training officer. The request by the Orange County Sheriff's Department is within past procedural practices. This Agreement has been reviewed by and is acceptable to the City Attorney. Z",Z,-7 4Z W.
