Let's wee 'f the council is brave enough to do the right thing. y t. 1 i w.>•, ' '' MAR 01 '90 08:42 P.2/2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUSTI.N, RECOMMENDING THAT TWO TAX INITIA- TIVES BE PLACED ON THE NOVEMBER BALLOT: ONE FOR ROADS AND FREEWAYS, AND ANOTHER FOR DIA- MOND LANES AND MASS TRANSIT. WHEREAS, traffic -related issues within the County of Orange are of utmost concern to the local off i ci al s, business persons, and citizens of Orange County and specifically, the City of Tustin; and WHEREAS, the Orange County Transportation Commission will not hold evening public meetings, when the public and interested part- ies might provide input; and WHEREAS, the Orange County Transportation Commission has not completed the promised test of the diamond lane on SR -55 to prove its utility; and WHEREAS, the citizens of Orange County have voted twice in five years against any tax increase to build diamond 1 anes on their freeways; and WHEREAS, the Orange County Transportation needs to show that they are dealing in good faith with the public they serve. i NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the ' City of Tustin does hereby recommend that there be two tax initia- ti ves placed before the voters in November 1990: one initiative for general purpose lanes and roads, and a separate initiative for dia- mond lanes and mass transit.
