HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC 13 SB 821 03-19-90DATE: TO: FROM MARCH 12, 1990 WILLIAM HUSTON, CITY MANAGER CONSENT CALENDAR NO. 13 3-19-90 Inter - Com PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT/ENGINEERING DIVISION SUBJECT: SB 821 BICYCLE/ PEDESTRIAN FACILITIES, PROJECT APPLICATION FOR FISCAL YEAR 1990-91 RECOMMENDATION: That the Tustin City Council at their meeting of March 19, 1990 adopt a resolution approving the application for Bicycle and/or Pedestrian Facility funds under SB 821. BACKGROUND: An allocation of $13,641 will be available to the City in FY 1990-91 under the SB 821 Program for Bicycle and/or Pedestrian Facilities. New sidewalk and handicap ramp projects are proposed at the north side of Walnut Avenue to use all available funds for FY 1990-91. The proposed construction of a portion of the north side of Walnut Avenue in the industrial area will provide continuous concrete sidewalk and handicap ramps at major commercial driveways between Tustin Ranch Road and Franklin Avenue, and between Franklin Avenue and the AT&SF railroad easement. It is planned to propose construction of sidewalk on the remaining portion between the railroad easement and Myford Road (City limit), during the SB 821 project application, FY 1991-91. The SB 821 sidewalk and handicap ramp project for this fiscal year 1989-90 will be delayed and will be ready for bid with the proposed sidewalk project above in November 1990 after we receive approval of this application from Orange County Transportation Commission. Bob Ledendecker Wisam Altowaiji Director of Public Works/City Engineer Associate Civil Engineer BL: WA: mv Attach. 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 RESOLUTION NO. 90-39 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUSTIN, ORANGE COUNTY CALIFORNIA, APPROVING THE APPLICATION FOR BICYCLE AND/OR PEDESTRIAN FACILITY FUNDS UNDER SB 821 WHEREAS, SB 821 provides that 2% of each County's total local Transportation Fund be annually set aside and used to fund the development of bicycle and pedestrian facilities; and WHEREAS, the City of Tustin desires to provide sidewalk facilities for pedestrian use throughout the entire community; and WHEREAS, the City of Tustin desires to construct the sidewalk facilities within the City utilizing the funds available under SB 821; NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Tustin does resolve as follows: 1. To construct pedestrian facilities within this City to the established standards. 2. To authorize Bob Ledendecker as the City's authorized signature and designated contact person. 3. To apply for all funds available to the City of Tustin allocated for bikeways and pedestrian facilities under SB 821.
