SUBJECT: SB 821 BICYCLE/ PEDESTRIAN FACILITIES, PROJECT APPLICATION
FOR FISCAL YEAR 1990-91
RECOMMENDATION:
That the Tustin City Council at their meeting of March 19, 1990 adopt a
resolution approving the application for Bicycle and/or Pedestrian
Facility funds under SB 821.
BACKGROUND:
An allocation of $13,641 will be available to the City in FY 1990-91
under the SB 821 Program for Bicycle and/or Pedestrian Facilities. New
sidewalk and handicap ramp projects are proposed at the north side of
Walnut Avenue to use all available funds for FY 1990-91.
The proposed construction of a portion of the north side of Walnut
Avenue in the industrial area will provide continuous concrete sidewalk
and handicap ramps at major commercial driveways between Tustin Ranch
Road and Franklin Avenue, and between Franklin Avenue and the AT&SF
railroad easement. It is planned to propose construction of sidewalk on
the remaining portion between the railroad easement and Myford Road
(City limit), during the SB 821 project application, FY 1991-91.
The SB 821 sidewalk and handicap ramp project for this fiscal year
1989-90 will be delayed and will be ready for bid with the proposed
sidewalk project above in November 1990 after we receive approval of
this application from Orange County Transportation Commission.
