HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC 14 ASPHALT OVERLAY 03-19-90DATE: TO: FROM: SUBJECT: /i —�o MARCH 12, 1990 WILLIAM HUSTON, CITY MANAGER CONSENT CALENDAR NO. 14 - 3-19-90 Inter- Com PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT/ENGINEERING DIVISION ACCEPTANCE OF ASPHALTIC CONCRETE PAVEMENT OVERLAY - EAST TUSTIN RECOMMENDATION: That the Tustin City Council pass and adopt the attached resolution accepting works of improvement and authorizing recordation of notice of completion for asphaltic concrete overlay on East Tustin streets. Assuming no claims or stop payment notices are filed, it is further recommended that 30 days after the date of recordation of the notice of completion, the Council authorize payment of the final 10% retention amount of $51,599.08. This amount together with previous payments of $464,391.73 represents 100% of the final contract amount. ACKGROUND: _n September 1989, the City Council awarded a contract to Sully -Miller Contracting Company to place an asphaltic concrete overlay on the following streets within the East Tustin area: Assessment District No. 85-1/86-2 Funded Streets * E1 Camino Real between Myford and Jamboree Road (AD N. 85-1) * Bryan Avenue between a point easterly of Browning Avenue and Jamboree Road (AD No. 85-1) * Irvine Blvd. between a point easterly of Ranchwood Road and Jamboree Road (South 1/2 - AD No. 85-1 and North 1/2 - AD No. 86-2) * Tustin Ranch Road between Bryan Avenue and Irvine Blvd. (AD No. 85-1) * Myford Road between El Camino Real and Irvine Blvd. (AD No. 85-1) Irvine Company Subdivision Funded Streets * Parkcenter Lane between Bryan Avenue and Tustin Ranch Road * Heritage Way between Tustin Ranch Road and Bryan Avenue * Lagier Way between Tustin Ranch Road and Heritage Way All work related to the respective Assessment District streets was funded by the Districts and all Irvine Company subdivision streets were funded by the Irvine Company. 1ISCUSSION: .11 work on the above-mentioned contract has been completed to the satisfaction of both the Tustin Public Works Department and the Irvine Company, and these public improvements are now ready for acceptance by the City. CCEPTANCE OF ASPHALTIC CONCRETE OVERLAY - EAST TUSTIN MARCH 12, 1990 PAGE 2 The final contract amount on this project is $515,990.81 which results in a contract under -run of 6.3% from the original contract amount of $550,623.64. The attached resolution provides for the City's acceptance of the works of improvement and authorizes the recordation of the notice of completion of said work. ZL .,, 0' , __7 0 0, 4 , Bob Ledendecker Director of Public Works/City Engineer BL: my 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 m RESOLUTION NO. 90- 40 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUSTIN ACCEPTING WORKS OF IMPROVEMENT AND AUTHORIZING RECORDATION OF NOTICE OF COMPLETION FOR ASPHALTIC CONCRETE OVERLAY ON EAST TUSTIN STREETS WHEREAS, Sully Miller Contracting Company, Inc., having a contract with the City of Tustin to construct the hereinafter described public work and improvement; and WHEREAS, the City Engineer has duly certified to the construction and completion of said public improvements hereinafter mentioned in a manner satisfactory to the City Council of the City of Tustin; and WHEREAS, the City Council finds that said contractor has completed said public improvement hereinafter more particularly described in accordance with the provisions of the contract documents and the notice of completion, and acceptance of said public work and improvement, should be filed and payment of the balance due said contract authorized in accordance with the contract documents. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Tustin that said public work and improvement be, and the same is hereby accepted. Said public work and improvement is more particularly described as follows: El Camino Real between Myford Road and Jamboree Road Bryan Avenue between a point easterly of Browning Ave. and Jamboree Road Irvine Blvd. between a point easterly of Ranchwood Rd. and Jamboree Road Tustin Ranch Road between Bryan Avenue and Irvine Blvd. Myford Road between El Camino Real and Irvine Blvd. Parkcenter Lane between Bryan Ave. and Tustin Ranch Rd.
