HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC 6 RELEASE OF BONDS 05-21-90CONSENT CALENDAR NO. 6 5/21/90 DATE: MAY 11, 1990 � Inter Com TO: WILLIAM HUSTON, CITY MANAGER FROM: PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT/ENGINEERING DIVISION SUBJECT: ACCEPTANCE OF PUBLIC IMPROVEMENTS AND RELEASE OF BONDS FOR PARCEL MAP NO. 84-1032 RECOMMENDATION: That the Tustin City Council accept all public improvements within Parcel Map No. 84-1032 and authorize the release of all faithful performance, labor and materials, monumentation, and subdivision warranty bonds related to Parcel Map No. 84-1032. BACKGROUND: The area within the subject Parcel Map No. 84-1032 was developed (Tustin Auto Center) by the Irvine Company and is generally located northerly of the Santa Ana (I-5) freeway and easterly of Tustin Ranch road. As a condition of approval of the development, the Irvine Company was required to post certain public improvement, monumentation and subdivision warranty bonds as follows: Faithful Performance Bond No. 5240-9154 $1,426,1.50 Labor and Materials Bond No. 5240-9154 00000.0.0 $ 713,075 Monumentati.on Bond No. 5240-9154 ............... $ 6,1.00 Subdivision Warranty Bond No. 5240-9155 00000.000 $ 142,615 DISCUSSION: All work related to the above-mentioned public improvement, monumenta- tion and subdivision warranty bonds within Parcel Map No. 84-1032 has been completed to the satisfaction of the Public Works Department, and it is recommended that the above-mentioned bonds be released and formally accepted by the City Council. These public improvements were accepted by staff in late 1986 and as a result of this previous staff acceptance, it is recommended that the subdivision warranty bond be released at this time in lieu of the one year waiting period. The delay in final improvement acceptance was due to the unfinished work within the retarding basin which has now been resolved. Bob Ledendecker Director of Public Works/City Engineer
