HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC 13 WTR MAIN RELOC 05-21-90DATE TO: FROM: MAY 16, 1990 WILLIAM HUSTON, CITY MANAGER PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT/WATER DIVISION CONSENT CALENDAR NO. 13 5/21/90 Inter - Com SUBJECT: AWARD OF CONTRACT FOR WATER MAIN RELOCATION ON EL CAMINO REAL, NISSON ROAD AND RED HILL AVENUE RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that the City Council at their meeting of May 21, 1990: 1. Award the contract for subject project to Colich & Sons (JV) of Gardena, CA, in the amount of $350,395.00; and 2. Authorize the transfer of $55,500.00 from the budgeted amount for the Bikini, Saigon and Lindale east of Hewes, water main replace- ment project, to the subject project: $40,000.00 would fund the City's share of the water main relocation cost for E1 Camino Real and Nisson Road. $15,500.00 would fund the difference between the budgeted amount and the bid amount for Red Hill Avenue water main replacement. BACKGROUND: On April 17, 1990, the City Council approved plans and specifications and authorized the advertisement for bias for the subject project. This project encompasses the installation of street light conduit on E1 Camino Real and Nisson Road and the relocation of the existing water mains on El Camino Real, Nisson Road, and Red Hill Avenue to accommodate Caltrans I-5/SR 55 Interchange Project, Stage 2. The City of Tustin has prior rights easements for the water mains to be relocated. Caltrans will reimburse a portion of the E1 Camino Real and Nisson Road water main relocation costs to the City.
