HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC 14 WTR MAIN REPLACE 05-21-90DATE: TO: FROM: MAY 16, 1990 WILLIAM HUSTON, CITY MANAGER PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT/WATER DIVISION CONSENT CALENDAR NO. 14 5/21/90 Inter - Com SUBJECT: AWARD OF CONTRACT FOR WATER MAIN REPLACEMENT ON HEWES AVENUE, BIKINI PLACE, SAIGON LANE AND LINDALE LANE (FILE x#2896) RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that the City Council at their meeting of May 21, 1990 award the contract for subject project to RLT Construction, Inc. of Anaheim, CA, in the amount of $94,680.00. BACKGROUND: On April 17, 1990, the City Council approved plans and specifications and authorized the advertisement for bid for the subject project. This project encompasses the replacement of deteriorated water mains on Hewes Avenue, Bikini Place, Saigon Lane and Lindale Lane in the unincorporated territory of Orange County. DISCUSSION: Sealed bids for this work were received and opened on May 15, 1990 at 10:00 A.M. and are summarized as follows: RLT Construction, Inc. ................. $ 94,680.00 Robert Brkich Construction ............. $130,083.00 Williams Supply Co. .................... $138,072.50 Bobco Construction ..................... $138,260.00 Valverde Construction .................. $142,920.00 Ruiz Engineering Co. ................... $149,924.00 Drainage Construction .................. $163,607.50 D. M. Kisling Construction ............. $176,718.50 The low bid is $57,930.75, or about 38.0% below the engineer's estimate of $152,610.75.
