The requests are for the removal of trees located in the public right of way. Each location has been investigated by a member of the City's tree maintenance staff. Staff has rendered a recommendation, prepared cost estimates, and in residential areas, surveyed adjacent property owners to assess neighborhood opinion. This information is contained in the specific request tabulated in the attached exhibit. Trees approved for removal, by Council, shall be removed and replaced by City crews. Replacements will be with a tree of acceptable species from the City's approved tree list. Staff Evaluation: A large Carrotwood tree with an extensive root system. Neighbor Response: YES - 2 NO -0 NO REPLY - 3 Recommendation: That the Request be approved and the Carrotwood be replaced with a 15 Gallon Carrotwood to be planted in a Root Barrier Box. Estimated Cost: The estimated cost to remove the Carrotwood and replace with a Carrotwood in a Root Barrier Box is $300.00 Applicant: MS. OLGA SNYDER Address: 14391 Acacia Drive Telephone: (714) 544-5585 Request: That the City remove one Ficus Natida Tree, in the parkway, at City expense. Staff Evaluation: A large Ficus Nitida with exposed roots from curb to sidewalk. Tree could be root pruned. Applicant vacillates between wanting the tree removed or root pruned. Estimated Cost: The estimated cost to remove the Ficus Nitida Tree and replace it with a Magnolia Tree in a Root Barrier Box is $435.00. Applicant: CHI LE VO Address: 14491 Heights Drive Telephone: (714) 730-4722 Request: That the City remove one Ficus Natida Tree, in the parkway, at City expense. Staff Evaluation: The tree has been root pruned once and is lifting the sidewalk again. The tree has out grown the parkway. Staff Evaluation: A large ficus Nitida Tree starting to out grow the parkway. There is already one crack in the curb and gutter and the sidewalk is beginTdng to lift. Neighbor Response: YES - 1 NO -0 NO REPLY - 4 Recommendation: That the request be approved and the Ficus Nitida Tree be replaced with a Liquidamber Tree in a Root Barrier Box. Estimated Cost: The estimated cost to remove the Ficus Nitida Tree and replace it with a Liquidamber Tree in a Root Barrier Box is $330.00. Applicant: MR. CONNOR LAUDERDALE Address: 14492 Cloverbrook Drive Telephone: (714) 838-3120 Request: That the City remove one Ficus Natida Tree, in the parkway, at City expense. Staff Evaluation: A large Ficus Nitida Tree that has out grown the parkway and has one large exposed service root. LEO SULLIVAN Address: 14572 Raintree Telephone: (714) 838 6917 Request: That the City remove one Carrotwood Tree in the parkway at City expense. Staff Evaluation: A healthy Carrotwood that was topped at sometime in the past. The tree is starting to get its crown back and is lifting the sidewalk. Neighbor Response: YES - 0 NO- 1 NO REPLY - 4 Recommendation: That the request be denied and the City root prune along the sidewalk and curb sides of the tree to help prevent any future damage that may occur. Estimated Cost: The estimated cost to root prune the Carrotwood Tree is $110.00.
