D A gingceiw! xHL-r.�.r , DATE: TO FROM: MAY 301 1990 WILLIAM HUSTON, CITY MANAGER CONSENT CALENDAR NO. 7 �­ ' 6/4/90 Inter - Com PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT/ENGINEERING DIVISION SUBJECT: FINAL ACCEPTANCE OF PUBLIC IMPROVEMENTS FOR STREET WIDENING/ TRAFFIC SIGNAL AT NORTHEAST CORNER OF RED HILL & WALNUT, AHFP #1218 (FILE #2413) RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that the City Council, at their meeting of June 4, 1990, adopt the attached resolution accepting said work and authorizing the recordation of the Notice of Completion. Assuming no claims or stop payment notices are filed, it is further recommended that 30 days after the date of recordation of the Notice of Completion, that the Council authorize payment of the final 10% retention amount of $20,840.03. This amount together with previous payments of $187,560.32 represents 100% of the final contract amount. BACKGROUND: This project is being funded through the Arterial Highway Financing Program (AHFP) which participates on a fifty (50%) percent basis with the local agency on all AHFP-eligible construction items. All non -eligible items are funded 100% by the City. The Engineering staff is currently working on the final report, which will be sent to the County-AHFP for final approval and distribution of allocated funds. This work has been completed to the satisfaction of the Engineering Division. The final contract amount is $208,400.35. This represents an overrun of 5.6 percent from the original contract amount of $197,296.00 due to extra work added by contract change orders. Bob Ledendecker Wisam Altowaiji Director of Public Works/City Engineer Associate Civil Engineer BL: WA: mv Attachment i 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 it 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 RESOLUTION NO. 90-62 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUSTIN, ACCEPTING WORKS OF IMPROVEMENT AND AUTHORIZING RECORDATION OF NOTICE OF COMPLETION FOR STREET WIDENING AND TRAFFIC SIGNAL IMPROVE- MENTS AT THE NORTHEAST CORNER OF RED HILL AND WALNUT AVENUES (AHFP #1218) WHEREAS, Excel Paving Company, having a contract with City of Tustin to construct the hereinafter described public work and improvement; and WHEREAS, the City Engineer has duly certified to the construction and completion of said public improvements hereinafter mentioned in a manner satisfactory to the City Council and the City of Tustin; and WHEREAS, the City Council finds that said contractor has completed said public improvement hereinafter more particularly described in accordance with the provisions of the contract documents and the notice of completion and acceptance of said public work and improvement should be filed and payment of the balance due said contract authorized in accordance with the contract documents. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Tustin that said public work and improvement be, and the same is hereby accepted. Said public work and improvement is more particularly described as follows: Street Widening and Traffic Signal Improvements at Northeast Corner of Red Hill and Walnut Avenues AHFP #1218 AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Engineer of the City of Tustin be, and is hereby authorized to execute and file a notice of completion and acceptance of said public work and improvement described herein as required by law.
