SUBJECT: REGIONAL TRAILS/BIKE LANES - EAST TUSTIN AREA
RECOMMENDATION:
Receive and file.
BACKGROUND:
At a recent City Council meeting, staff was requested to prepare an
informational report on the regional trails/bike lanes within the East
Tustin area.
DISCUSSION:
The East Tustin Specific Plan provides for the construction of a
regional trail which provides for equestrian, hiking and bicycle uses
and is conceptually shown in yellow on the attached drawing.
This regional trail commences at Peters Canyon Wash and Jamboree Road
and traverses the following alignment:
o Northerly along the westerly side of, and adjacent to, Jamboree Road
to Portola Parkway.
o Westerly along the southerly side of, and adjacent to, Portola Parkway
to Tustin Ranch Road.
o Northeasterly along the northerly side of, and adjacent to, Tustin
Ranch Road to Pioneer Way.
o Northwesterly along the westerly side of, and adjacent to, Pioneer
Way to Pioneer Road.
o Northerly along a line westerly and adjacent to a future park and
school site to Peters Canyon Road Road.
o Westerly along the southerly side of, and adjacent to, Peters Canyon
Road to the proposed County Regional Park.
It is intended that the regional trail would continue through the
Regional Park to the Irvine Park area. On the southerly end, the future
trail is planned to extend along Peters Canyon Wash alignment to
southerly of the Santa Ana Freeway. The regional trail construction is
planned to commence during the summer of 1990 and will be funded by
Assessment District No. 86-2 monies.
