DATE: TO: FROM: SUBJECT: June 26, 1990 WILLIAM HUSTON, CITY MANAGER CONSENT CALENDAR NO. 13 7/2/90 Inter -- Com PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT/ENGINEERING DIVISION DECLARATION OF SURPLUS VEHICLES AND MISC. EQUIPMENT RECOMMENDATION: That the Tustin City Council, at their regular meeting of July 2, 1990, find that the vehicles and equipment listed below are not required of public use and declare them surplus. BACKGROUND: Section 1626a (2) of City of Tustin Ordinance No. 871 discusses the disposition of property and requires the purchasing agent to make a written estimate of the value of any surplus items not usable by the City or not required for public use. Further, the City Council must find that these surplus items are not required for public use and after said finding, the purchasing agent shall have the authority to sell all such items in accordance with Section 1625c and Section 1625d of Ordinance No. 871, whichever is applicable. DISCUSSION: The vehicles and equipment listed are the results of the City's rotation of equipment (City's equipment lease fund), accidents, and items which have exceeded their useful life. With City Council's approval, Staff proposes to sell the equipment at public auction. A listing of the items deemed surplus and their estimated value follows: VEHICLE MAINTENANCE UNIT NO.
