HUSTON, CITY MANAGER FROM: OFFICE OF THE CITY CLERK CONSENT CALENDAR NO. 6 7-16-90 Inter - Com SUBJECT: FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE - TUSTIN HIGH SCHOOL GRAD NITE COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION: Adopt Resolution No. 90-87 approving the allocation of $1,500.00 to the Tustin Unified School District to defray the costs and expenses of conducting graduation night activities for Tustin High School graduating seniors. BACKGROUND: At their meeting of July 2, 1990, the City Council directed staff to prepare a resolution formally approving the $1,500.00 donation to the Tustin High School Grad Nite Committee. Valerie Whiteman Chief Deputy City Clerk 11 2' 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 RESOLUTION NO. 90_87 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUSTIN, CALIFORNIA APPROVING AND DIRECTING PAYMENT TO THE TUSTIN UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT FOR TUSTIN HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION NIGHT The City Council of the City of Tustin, California finds and determines as follows: 1. That Tustin High School has conducted a Graduation Night function for graduating seniors for a number of years, and 2. The Graduation Night activity of Tustin High School has been highly successful and has been emulated by many other Southern California high schools, and 3. The Tustin High School Graduation Night activity has demonstrated itself to be a program highly successful in providing a safe, wholesome and rewarding graduation night activity, and 4. The Tustin High School Graduation Night activity has after study by police and California Highway Patrol authorities been determined to save lives and protect our young people and the citizens of the City of Tustin at large, and 5. The cost of conducting the Graduation Night activity is one that cannot be borne solely by the graduating students of Tustin High School and is a project worthy of support not only by the Tustin Unified School District, but by the City of Tustin, and 6. The City Council has determined and hereby finds it is in the best interest of the City of Tustin and all of its residents that the Tustin High School Graduation Night activities be continued in the future. NOW, THEREFORE the City Council of the City of Tustin, California hereby approves, authorizes and directs the payment of One Thousand, Five Hundred Dollars ($1,500.00) to the Tustin Unified School District to defray the costs and expense of conducting Graduation Night for the graduating seniors of Tustin High School.
