SUBJECT: REQUEST FOR STOP SIGN INSTALLATION ON YORBA STREET AT BONNER
DRIVE
RECOMMENDATION:
Receive and file.
BACKGROUND:
At the August 6, 1990 City Council meeting, a request was made by Mrs.
Helen Edgar f•or the City to install stop signs on Yorba Street at Bonner
Drive.
Staff was directed to return to the City Council meeting of August 20,
1990 with a report on this matter.
-- DISCUSSION:
The subject intersection is a multi -jurisdictional intersection with the
City/County boundary lying twenty feet westerly of the centerline of
Yorba Street. Any stop sign installation, if warranted, would require
the approval of both the County of Orange and the City of Tustin.
As a starting point for this request, Tustin will perform the warrant
study for the stop sign installation and upon its completion (in
approximately 4 weeks) will proceed with either of the following:
1. If the intersection meets the warrant for a stop sign
installation on Yorba Street at Bonner Drive, we will
contact the County and request their approval for said
installation.
2. If the intersection does not meet the warrants for a
stop sign installation on Yorba Street at Bonner Drive,
staff will return to the City Council for further direction.
